Nikolai Kozyrev was a Russian astrophysicist regarded as one of the leading scientists in his field until his life took a difficult turn during Stalin’s reign. Kozyrev was imprisoned for 10 years during the Stalin purges. Yet he continued his theoretical physics work while in prison, developing theories on time and the energy source for stars. Based on Einstein’s ideas of gravity warping space, Kozyrev theorized that matter could be arranged in certain ways to affect time.
Kozyrev’s theory explored the idea that time might work like light, as a form of energy. Just as mirrors bend and reflect light, he suggested time could be influenced with proper planning. Using his resources, Kozyrev experimented with different metals and found aluminum was best for his concepts. He also determined concave mirrors gave interesting results because they create visual effects that alter perception and possibly time itself.
Kozyrev eventually updated his design. He envisioned an upright structure made of aluminum sheets with an opening so a person could enter and sit in a chair at the center. The structure would rotate and have a dome lid to concentrate light. The Soviet government watched his work closely. However, just as his research was progressing, Kozyrev mysteriously died.
After the Soviet Union collapsed, two Russian scientists, Dr. Trofimov and Dr. Kaznacheev, continued this research near the North Pole. What’s particularly intriguing is that they were funded by the government. Participants in these experiments reported unusual experiences, including seeing symbolic imagery resembling ancient Sumerian symbols.
